Data Operations Engineer (Mid/Senior) - Rockstar Games, Bengaluru, India
Rockstar Games, a creator of world-class entertainment experiences, is seeking a skilled Data Operations Engineer with strong automation, process monitoring, and problem-solving skills. This full-time, in-office position is based in our large game development studio in Bangalore, India. About the Rockstar Games Analytics Team
The Rockstar Games Analytics team delivers critical insights and actionable results to stakeholders across the organization, supporting informed decision-making. We partner with numerous departments to leverage analytics, measuring and enhancing the success and health of our games. Our distributed team collaboratively develops innovative data pipelines, data products, data models, reports, analyses, and machine learning applications. The Data Science Operations vertical specifically ensures the seamless execution of scheduled Machine Learning (ML) and data model processes.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Data Scientists and Engineers to understand process flows and business needs. Design and implement standardized alerts and runbooks to streamline issue identification and resolution within Rockstar’s Analytics data platform.
- Partner with other Analytics Engineering, MLOps, and Data Integrity teams to monitor the health and success of ongoing processes. Create manual and automated processes to ensure adherence to Data Contracts and standards.
- Establish a comprehensive framework for monitoring, alerting, and reviewing Data Pipelines and ML models, ensuring alignment with best practices for efficiency, cost, quality, and stability.
- Provide technical expertise to the data science team, enabling the effective utilization of APIs, libraries, automation, and other technologies to improve and streamline workflows.
- Offer Level 1 support for urgent issues or outages during regular work hours, strictly enforcing SLAs/SLOs. Conduct thorough root cause analysis, develop Correction of Errors documents, and ensure seamless handovers to US/UK time zone teams for unresolved critical issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Data Analytics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Business, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in analytics, data operations, ML operations, or a similar role.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python, including PySpark.
- Demonstrated experience with containerization and CI/CD tools, including Docker, TeamCity, Octopus, JFrog Artifactory, and GitHub.
- Experience with Orchestration tools such as Airflow, Prefect, or similar.
- Experience with cloud data platforms, with a preference for Databricks and Snowflake.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong emphasis on technical documentation.
- A genuine passion for Rockstar Games and our titles.
Plus Points (Desirable Skills)
- Experience with Data Quality frameworks and tools.
- Experience with MLOps tools and frameworks.
- Proficiency in using monitoring tools like Grafana, Prometheus, and Elastic for system and metric monitoring, and dashboard creation.
- Familiarity with building and supporting process alerting at an enterprise scale.
