Data Engineer

Amgen India is seeking an experienced IS Data Engineer to join the Digital Technology & Innovation (DTI) team. As part of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Medical Data Analytics and Insights Product Team, this role will be instrumental in delivering advanced analytics capabilities to the Global Medical business organization. You will collaborate closely with business users, architects, validation engineers, platform teams, and product owners to develop and implement critical analytics solutions and enhancements.

This position demands expertise in data integration across various technology platforms, including Databricks, Tableau, CI/CD, GitLab, and AWS Services. A strong background in the end-to-end software development lifecycle and practical experience as a Scaled Agile practitioner are essential. The ideal candidate will drive key strategic initiatives, foster a collaborative environment, and deliver high-quality results within a complex, matrixed organizational structure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Function as a Digital Technology Data and Analytics Data Engineer within a SAFe product team, ensuring cost-effective, compliant, and reliable progress towards business needs.
• Utilize data, AI, and metrics to analyze user behavior and product usage trends, informing strategic decisions.
• Develop and integrate data, including ETL pipelines within the Databricks data lake environment.
• Lead data analysis and insights user stories, leveraging existing CI/CD pipelines and processes, with a focus on automation and process streamlining.
• Communicate software and system designs effectively using modeling tools.
• Develop test classes and automation to validate business logic and prevent production issues.
• Collaborate closely with product scrum team members, including business analysts, software engineers, validation analysts, and product owners.
• Research and drive Proof of Concepts for AI/LLM-based solutions to meet business requirements, staying updated on the latest DevOps methodologies and industry trends.
• Participate in and develop prioritized Data and Analytics user stories within the Databricks environment.
• Demonstrate familiarity with AWS Services and other cloud technologies.
• Create technical design and business documentation for end-users.
• Cultivate a deep understanding of the product and customer experience, gathering insights through customer interactions.
• Quickly debug and resolve customer challenges to ensure satisfaction.

Qualifications:

• Master's degree with 2 years of Information Systems experience OR Bachelor's degree with 4 years of Information Systems experience.
• 3+ years of experience in developing, implementing, and supporting Data and Analytics Data Lake systems, analytics/reporting, and visualization tools.
• Proven experience with the Databricks platform, developing integration pipelines, SFDC APIs, REST-based web services, SQL, XML, and JavaScript.
• Extensive hands-on experience with building REACT-based UI solutions.
• Experience in BI environments such as Tableau or Power BI.
• Experience developing in an enterprise environment within an AGILE framework.
• Understanding of AWS services, security frameworks, and AI/LLM base models.
• Must-Have Skills: Ability to manage multiple projects, strong problem-solving skills, collaborative spirit, and a commitment to continuous learning in AI and BI/ML.
• Good-to-Have Skills: Hands-on technical development experience in fast-paced environments, experience with systems like Veeva CRM, CMS, AWS, Google Analytics, Salesforce, knowledge of analytics and design principles, SAFe Agile experience, experience managing onshore/offshore teams, quick learning of AI/ML technologies, and experience in regulated environments (pharmaceutical preferred).
• Certifications: SAFe for Teams (preferred), AWS Developer/User (preferred).
