Data Engineer

Eduhubspot is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Data Engineer for a remote position. This role is ideal for individuals with strong experience in MySQL, data pipeline creation, and Power BI integration. The primary responsibility will be to design, build, and optimize robust data pipelines that transform raw data into structured, analysis-ready datasets for reporting and dashboarding within Power BI. This exciting opportunity sits at the intersection of backend data engineering and business intelligence reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable data pipelines utilizing MySQL and associated tools.
• Perform comprehensive Extract, Transform, Load (ETL/ELT) operations on data sourced from various platforms.
• Construct optimized data models and aggregated tables specifically for Power BI reporting.
• Write and refine complex SQL queries, including joins, Common Table Expressions (CTEs), window functions, and indexing for performance.
• Uphold data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across all integrated systems.
• Enhance query performance and overall database efficiency.
• Collaborate effectively with business and analytics teams to define and meet reporting requirements.
• Provide crucial support to the Power BI team by delivering clean, well-structured datasets.
• Automate data refresh processes and reporting workflows to improve efficiency.
• Troubleshoot and resolve data discrepancies and performance bottlenecks.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a closely related field.
• 1 to 4 years of progressive hands-on experience in data engineering or data analytics roles.
• Demonstrated strong proficiency in MySQL, including query optimization, indexing strategies, and performance tuning.
• Proven experience in building and managing data pipelines / ETL processes.
• Solid understanding of relational database design principles and data normalization techniques.
• Experience working with Power BI datasets and a good grasp of data modeling concepts.
• Familiarity with core data warehousing principles.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Good to Have

• Experience with advanced Power BI data modeling and foundational DAX.
• Familiarity with Python for data processing and manipulation tasks.
• Exposure to cloud-based databases such as AWS RDS or Azure SQL.
• Understanding of incremental data loading strategies and automation scheduling.
• Practical experience with version control systems like Git.
