Data Engineer L3

About the Role

Forbes Advisor is a new initiative under the Forbes Marketplace umbrella providing expert-written insights on personal finance, health, business, and everyday life decisions. We empower consumers with knowledge to make confident choices.

We are looking for:

• A highly skilled Data Engineer (L3) with strong expertise in Python, data ingestion pipelines, and marketing data systems, specifically within the Meta Ads ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

• Data Engineering & Pipelines: Design scalable architecture; build robust ETL/ELT workflows using Python and SQL for social marketing sources (APIs, event streams); ensure high data quality and observability.
• Marketing & Ad Platform Data: Own ingestion/modeling of Meta Ads and digital platform data. Build datasets for campaign tracking, lead funnel analysis, attribution, and conversion optimization. Understand campaign hierarchies, bidding signals, and pixel/event tracking concepts (GA4, Snowplow).
• Business Understanding & Collaboration: Translate requirements from marketing/product teams into scalable solutions. Define success metrics tied to revenue and performance.
• Data Quality & Governance: Implement validation checks, monitoring/alerting; ensure consistency across sources; maintain documentation.
• Engineering Standards: Design modular microservices for reusable data products; uphold high code quality standards; contribute to shared frameworks.

Required Skills

• Technical: Proficiency in Python (must-have), Advanced SQL, API ingestion management, Data Orchestration (Airflow+), Cloud platforms (BigQuery).
• Ad Platform Knowledge: Meta Ads fundamentals, campaign metrics (CTR/CPA/ROAS), attribution models, funnel analytics.

• Other ad platforms (Google/Bing)
• Data modeling best practices (Star Schema, dbt)
• Real-time pipeline experience
