Data Engineer II

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Data Engineer to join our India-based Data Engineering team. This is a hands-on role where you will play a crucial part in shaping the future of our data platform, including our migration from on-premises systems to AWS cloud.

You will work with modern tools such as Airflow, Redshift, dbt, and Kafka, collaborating closely with product, engineering, analytics, and business teams. Your contributions will be vital in delivering high-quality, scalable data solutions that power real-world payments and drive data-informed decision-making. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize scalable, maintainable, and high-performance data pipelines and workflows.
• Ingest, transform, and deliver high-volume data from diverse sources, including MySQL databases and real-time Kafka streams.
• Design and maintain efficient data models in Redshift, and optimize SQL queries for analytics and reporting.
• Contribute to our cloud migration initiatives and evolve the data architecture with innovative solutions.
• Collaborate with globally distributed, cross-functional teams to translate business needs into robust technical solutions.
• Integrate data quality, reliability, observability, and security as core principles of the data platform.
• Support and enhance data solutions within a mission-critical payments environment.
• Continuously learn, share knowledge, and elevate data governance, quality, and security standards.

Requirements

• 2-3 years of professional experience in Data Engineering or a related field.
• Strong SQL expertise, including query optimization, complex transformations, and data modeling.
• Proficient Python skills for data engineering and pipeline development.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services like Redshift, Lambda, Glue, and S3, and Airflow for orchestration.
• Familiarity with modern transformation and modeling practices using tools like dbt.
• A collaborative approach, strong problem-solving abilities, critical thinking, and a proactive attitude.

Nice to Have

• Experience with large-scale cloud migration projects.
• Knowledge of real-time data streaming using Kafka.
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code for data platforms.
• Interest in AI/ML applications within modern data ecosystems.
