Your Role as a Data Engineer I at Amazon Thunder, Bengaluru
As a Data Engineer I, you will play a crucial role in shaping Amazon's data landscape. You will provide technical leadership, spearhead data engineering initiatives, and construct end-to-end analytical solutions that are not only highly available, scalable, stable, and secure, but also cost-effective. We value simplicity, creativity, and sound judgment. Your focus will be on delivering customer-centric data solutions that are easy to consume and generate significant business impact. If you are passionate about working with massive datasets, possess experience in organizing and curating data for analytics, and have a strategic vision for architecting advanced data ecosystems, this role is for you. You should be adept at building efficient and scalable data services and integrating them with AWS tools and services to cater to diverse customer use cases and applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement robust real-time and batch data ingestion routines, adhering to best practices in data modeling and ETL/ELT processes using AWS technologies and big data tools.
- Design, implement, and manage large-scale, high-volume, high-performance data systems for analysis and data science initiatives.
- Translate business and functional requirements into resilient, scalable, and operable data solutions with a flexible and adaptable data architecture.
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams to champion best practices in data system creation, data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and comprehensive documentation.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of ongoing reporting and analysis processes, driving automation and simplification of self-service modeling and production support for our customers.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 1+ year of professional experience in data engineering.
- Proficiency in SQL.
- Demonstrated experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines.
- Experience with at least one query language such as SQL, PL/SQL, DDL, MDX, HiveQL, or SparkSQL.
- Experience with at least one scripting language, including Python or KornShell.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with big data technologies like Hadoop, Hive, Spark, or EMR.
- Familiarity with ETL tools such as Informatica, ODI, SSIS, BODI, or Datastage.
