Data Engineer I

Amazon is seeking a Data Engineer I to join the CMT Dataplatform & Analytics team in Bengaluru/Bangalore, India. This role is part of the Pricing Big Data team, responsible for building and maintaining the data platform that ensures Amazon's worldwide marketplaces offer competitive pricing to customers. The team collates, transforms, and exposes pricing gaps through dashboards and reports, enabling deep dives and insight extraction to improve operational efficiency and meet business goals.

You will collaborate with technology, analytics, product, and machine learning teams to deliver real-time data processing solutions. This platform will provide Amazon leadership and Product Managers with timely, flexible, and structured access to customer insights, utilizing the latest AWS technologies and software development principles.

As a Data Engineer, you will lead the architecture, design, and development of the data, metrics, and reporting platform for Pricing. This includes architecting and implementing new, automated Business Intelligence solutions with big data and advanced analytical capabilities. Your work will support Development Engineers, Analysts, and Retail business stakeholders with actionable data, metrics, and reports, while ensuring scalability, reliability, accuracy, performance, and budget goals are met. You will drive automation and operational efficiencies, partner with business leaders on strategy and project prioritization, and write business cases. Additionally, you will provide technical leadership and mentoring to a team of Data Engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own the design and execution of end-to-end projects.
• Manage Amazon Pricing services data infrastructure.
• Build end-to-end data pipelines for Amazon Pricing.
• Establish key relationships across Amazon business units and Business Intelligence teams.
• Implement standardized, automated operational and quality control processes to ensure accurate and timely data and reporting, meeting or exceeding SLAs.

Basic Qualifications:

• 2+ years of data engineering experience.
• Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines.
• Proficiency in at least one query language (e.g., SQL, PL/SQL, DDL, MDX, HiveQL, SparkSQL, Scala).
• Experience with at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, KornShell).
• Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with big data technologies like Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR.
• Experience with ETL tools such as Informatica, ODI, SSIS, BODI, Datastage.
