Join Amazon's Global Finance Services (GFS) team, a dynamic and fast-paced environment focused on delivering exceptional customer experiences. We are seeking a talented Data Engineer to support our Amazon Music finance operations.
In this role, you will be instrumental in building and maintaining sophisticated data pipelines, and assembling large, complex datasets to derive critical business insights. Your work will empower data-driven decision-making and cater to the ever-growing demands of our dynamic business.
You will have the opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Business Analysts, Managers, Business Intelligence professionals, and fellow Data Engineers, to architect, implement, and support robust data solutions. This role offers significant growth potential within a customer-focused, agile setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and support analytical data platform solutions to drive data-informed decisions and insights.
- Develop data schemas and manage internal data warehouses & SQL/NoSQL database systems.
- Engage in the design, architecture, implementation, discussion, and optimization of various data models.
- Collaborate with other teams to extract, transform, and load data from diverse sources using AWS big data technologies such as EMR, Redshift, and Elastic Search.
- Utilize AWS technologies including S3, Redshift, Lambda, and Glue, while continuously exploring and adopting new AWS technologies to enhance capabilities and efficiency.
- Work with data lake platforms and their components, including Hadoop and Amazon S3.
- Leverage SQL technologies on Hadoop, such as Spark, Hive, and Impala.
- Continuously improve ongoing analysis processes, optimizing and simplifying self-service support for customers.
- Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, exhibit self-drive, and deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.
- Embrace best practices in reporting and analysis, including data integrity, test design, validation, and documentation.
- Collaborate with talented peers to foster knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
- Develop deep domain expertise across various Amazon business areas.
- Take ownership of the development and maintenance of essential metrics, reports, analyses, and dashboards to support key business decisions.
Basic Qualifications:
- 1+ years of experience in data engineering.
- Proficiency in SQL.
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines.
- Experience with at least one query language (e.g., SQL, PL/SQL, DDL, MDX, HiveQL, SparkSQL, Scala).
- Experience with at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, KornShell).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR.
- Experience with ETL tools (e.g., Informatica, ODI, SSIS, BODI, Datastage).
