Amazon's Finance Tech team is seeking a talented Data Engineer to significantly influence the evolution of Amazon's finance data platform. Collaborating with stakeholders across North America, Asia, and Europe, you will contribute to building one of the world's largest finance data warehouses by volume. This platform will support Amazon's rapidly expanding and dynamic businesses and power Business Intelligence (BI) applications that directly impact daily decision-making. Key Job Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and support a secure platform for accessing large datasets.
- Engage with tax, finance, and accounting stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver comprehensive BI solutions.
- Collaborate with Finance Analysts to identify and promote best practices in reporting and analysis, including data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation.
- Develop data and metadata models to support ad-hoc and pre-built reporting needs.
- Own the design, development, and maintenance of key metrics, reports, analyses, and dashboards to inform critical business decisions.
- Optimize application and query performance using profiling tools and AWS services.
- Conduct root cause analysis for problems, understanding their broader context.
- Acquire and apply knowledge of a wide range of Amazon's data resources, knowing when, how, and which to utilize.
- Stay abreast of advancements in big data technologies and pilot new approaches to architect data solutions that scale with increasing data volumes using AWS.
- Continuously enhance ongoing reporting and analysis processes, automating or simplifying self-service support for datasets.
- Evaluate multiple courses of action in ambiguous situations, employing both quantitative analysis and business judgment.
Basic Qualifications
- 1+ years of data engineering experience.
- Proficiency in SQL.
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines.
- Experience with at least one query language (e.g., SQL, PL/SQL, DDL, MDX, HiveQL, SparkSQL, Scala).
- Experience with at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, KornShell).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR.
- Experience with any ETL tool, including Informatica, ODI, SSIS, BODI, Datastage, etc.
