Role Overview
The Data Center Technician L2 performs intermediate-level hardware deployment, maintenance, diagnostics, asset management, cabling, and operational support for AI, accelerator, server, storage, and networking infrastructure in mission-critical data center environments. Ideal candidates with 2-4 years of experience will thrive in this onsite full-time position.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, rack, cable, and deploy servers, storage systems, accelerator platforms, and networking equipment according to approved floor plans and customer deployment standards.
- Perform structured copper and fiber cabling installation, routing, labeling, validation, tracing, and connectivity verification.
- Execute hardware diagnostics, FRU replacements, RMA activities, and return-to-service testing for servers and networking gear.
- Maintain accurate inventory records, conduct audits/cycle counts, track serialized assets through lifecycle stages, and manage spare parts replenishment.
- Support equipment commissioning, operational readiness reviews, moves/additions/changes/decommissions (MACD), and as-built documentation creation.
- Perform smart hands activities including reseats, cable tracing, hardware swaps, console access, and physical inspections under customer direction.
- Maintain OOB infrastructure support, update ticketing/inventory systems, ensure EHS compliance, and adhere to site security protocols.
Qualifications
We seek candidates with a High School diploma/GED or equivalent experience plus 2-4 years supporting data center operations. Strong troubleshooting skills in server/storage/network hardware are essential. Preferred: Experience with hyperscale/cloud/AI/HPC environments, GPU/accelerator infrastructure, structured cabling standards, and OOB connectivity concepts.
