Data Capability Engineer
Full Job Description
About the Job
Reports to: IT Systems Architecture
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-time
Purpose of the Role
You will own and extend the accuracy, completeness, and usability of our service management platform's data. This ensures implementation teams and AI-driven capabilities can act on it directly. Priority includes ensuring vulnerability and exposure management run on complete, trustworthy ground truth.
Core Responsibilities
- Anchor Domain: Service & Asset Data: Ensure existing service mapping is accurate across hosts, servers, and applications. Extend coverage to certificates, websites, agents, and SaaS applications. Engage in workflows that onboard new capabilities into the CMDB.
- Broader Mandate: Platform & AI-Consumption Quality: Apply discipline to high-value platform data including service catalogs, metadata, ticket routing, and Dataverse structures for tools like AskIT. Raise data standards so automated systems can act without human re-verification on every record.
What this role is not
This is a data capability role, not remediation coordination or change management. It supplies the data but does not own security decisions. You will leverage and improve existing foundations rather than building net-new platforms.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, data management, or equivalent experience.
- Five to eight years in IT data, configuration/asset management, or adjacent roles with demonstrable ownership of a data domain.
Required Skills & Knowledge
- Asset & Service Data: Hands-on CMDB and service mapping experience; familiarity with discovery tooling (Lansweeper) and asset types like certificates and SaaS apps.
- Data Quality Fundamentals: Profiling, deduplication, normalization, completeness measurement.
- Dataverse & AI Readiness: Experience querying structured platforms; understanding why clean semantics matter for intent classification and automated routing.
Your Advantage
Experience in Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Azure AI Search), exposure to vulnerability management data needs, ITIL familiarity, or DAMA/CDMP certification.
