Data Architect II

Join American Express in Gurgaon/Gurugram, India, as a Data Architect II. This permanent role is ideal for professionals with 2-5 years of experience in data architecture within an Agile development lifecycle. You will be instrumental in defining and maintaining data architectures, standards, and guidelines for a portfolio of regional and global development projects. This position involves close collaboration with business stakeholders and application development teams to translate business data requirements into robust data architectures. Key responsibilities include NoSQL and RDBMS database administration (Couchbase, Cassandra, Mongo, Oracle, MSSQL), creating conceptual, logical, and physical data models using CASE tools like ER/Studio or Hackolod, and documenting data elements with clear, unambiguous definitions. You will also contribute to defining point-of-arrival data architectures, integrating project models into master models, and ensuring adherence to AET data modeling standards and best practices. Your role will involve conducting research, promoting the reuse of existing standards, and developing new ones. You will standardize data definitions for enterprise-wide reuse and collaborate with teams to ensure consistent data domain and element definitions across business lines. A crucial part of this role is the seamless handover of logical data models to application development teams and DBAs for physical design and database construction. Participation in peer reviews to ensure quality and identify alignment opportunities is also expected. A Bachelor's degree or higher in Information Management, Computer Science Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Demonstrated experience as an Application Data Modeler, Business Analyst, or business partner, with a strong focus on analyzing business data requirements, is essential. You should possess strong analytical skills, the ability to document requirements into comprehensive, extensible, and flexible logical data models, and a solid understanding of the full development project lifecycle and methodologies. Familiarity with the Data Architect role and other development project roles (Business Analyst, DBA) within project lifecycles is important. You will be expected to facilitate discussions, resolve conflicts and inconsistencies in data requirements, and plan, scope, and estimate work efforts. The ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment is key. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
