U.S. Mortgage Underwriter - Full-Time Night Shift in Chennai
Talentgigs is seeking a dedicated U.S. Mortgage Underwriter to join our team in Chennai. This full-time position requires a flexible schedule, as candidates must be open to working night shifts.
About the Role:
As a Mortgage Underwriter, you will be instrumental in the mortgage lending process, responsible for evaluating the creditworthiness and risk associated with potential borrowers. Your primary duties will include the meticulous analysis of financial documentation, thorough review of loan applications, and making sound decisions to approve, conditionally approve, or deny mortgage loans. This role is critical in ensuring all loans adhere to our company's stringent lending standards and all applicable regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Loan Application Review
- Analyze and verify the accuracy and completeness of all submitted loan applications and supporting documents.
- Assess borrower profiles by examining credit history, employment records, income stability, and existing debt obligations.
- Confirm property valuations by reviewing appraisal reports and other relevant documentation.
Credit and Financial Analysis
- Evaluate credit reports to ascertain the borrower's creditworthiness.
- Analyze a variety of financial documents, including statements, tax returns, and pay stubs, to verify income.
- Calculate key financial ratios such as Debt-to-Income (DTI) and Loan-to-Value (LTV).
Property Valuation Review
- Review appraisals and alternative valuation products to ensure conformity with client-specified requirements and to assess the accuracy of property valuations.
Compliance and Risk Assessment
- Ensure all loan processes and decisions comply with federal, state, and local mortgage lending regulations.
- Strictly adhere to company policies, guidelines, and underwriting procedures.
- Identify potential risks and perform comprehensive assessments of the overall risk level associated with each loan application.
Essential Skills and Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in any discipline.
- Demonstrable experience in mortgage processing or underwriting.
- Comprehensive understanding of mortgage industry regulations, procedures, and best practices.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- A keen eye for detail and outstanding organizational skills.
- Proficiency in utilizing mortgage processing software and various financial tools.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration and decision-making.
- Proven ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet demanding deadlines.
- Solid understanding of financial statements and credit report interpretation.
- Mortgage underwriting certification or equivalent qualifications are considered a significant advantage.
Experience Range: 0.6 months to 8 years
