Full Job Description
Data Analyst (SQL, Data Warehousing, Statistical Analysis/Data Science) at Gartner - Gurgaon/Gurugram, India
About the Role
The Insights and Product Analytics (IPA) team at Gartner is responsible for analyzing the business performance of all research products within the Business and Technology Insights (BTI) unit. This includes understanding client value drivers related to research content, client interactions, and insights from conferences and events. The IPA team also supports the BTI organization by conducting client retention analytics, associate performance analysis, budget and financial analysis (in collaboration with finance), and client demand sensing. The team's mission is to empower fact-based decision-making by providing data, insights, and analytical tools to continuously improve business operations and strategy.
We are seeking a passionate Data Analyst to join our growing team. This is a unique, build-focused role where you will have the opportunity to shape processes, tools, and methodologies rather than simply following a predefined approach. You will tackle diverse problems encompassing content analytics, interaction and event analytics, demand sensing, staffing models, cost reporting, automation, expert performance analysis, standard reporting, and ad-hoc analysis. The role also involves dataset analysis, including identifying and sourcing data that may not be readily available. You will collaborate closely with IPA leadership to define problems, identify data sources, perform analysis, and communicate findings. Strong performers will develop the skills to independently manage project workstreams and interact with stakeholders. Projects will involve a blend of team and independent problem-solving, as well as automation and collaboration with the Information Technology team.
What You'll Do
- Partner with colleagues to conduct analyses that yield actionable insights for the BTI organization, effectively communicating findings to drive adoption and implementation. Build dashboards and reports.
- Take ownership of projects, contributing to key initiatives following rollout plans, success criteria, and metrics. Proactively drive workstreams, especially when facing ambiguous or undefined problems.
- Develop deep subject-matter expertise in Gartner's data, analytic tools, reports, and data infrastructure. Take responsibility for problem-solving, root cause analysis, and devising testing methodologies for validation, articulating data sources to senior audiences. Proactively identify and source new datasets when information is not readily available.
- Support and enable improvement initiatives for IPA deliverables (e.g., new data sources, analytic insights, tools) and operational processes (e.g., improving IPA processes and communications). Demonstrate analytical curiosity by exploring beyond assigned tasks to uncover additional insights and opportunities.
- Collaborate with the Information Technology team and data scientists to ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency.
What You'll Need
- Experience: 2-3 years of experience in analyzing large datasets with strong hands-on experience in analytical tools. Ability to gather, analyze, restructure, identify, and articulate insights from qualitative and quantitative data.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree, preferably with a quantitative concentration (e.g., statistics, data science, mathematics, engineering, operational research, computer science, or economics).
- Exceptional Problem Solving: Proven track record of solving complex problems, thinking creatively, and using data to tell a compelling story. Comfort with ambiguity and independent problem-solving; ability to propose solutions and paths forward even when problems or datasets are not fully defined.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to engage teams and key stakeholders.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong SQL and Data Warehousing skills, including the ability to independently write complex queries (joins, aggregations, window functions). Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and basic statistics/data science concepts. Familiarity with Python, Databricks, and Power BI is a plus.
- Collaboration: Strong collaboration and influencing skills. Experience working cross-functionally is a plus.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work independently.
- Location: This role is based in Gurgaon/Gurugram, India. Gartner offers a hybrid, flexible work environment. Candidates are expected to reside within a reasonable proximity to our Gurgaon Centers of Excellence office.
What You Will Get
- Competitive salary, generous paid time off, charity match program, Group Medical Insurance, Parental Leave, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and more.
- A collaborative, team-oriented culture that embraces diversity.
- Opportunities for professional development and unlimited growth.
