About the Role
Microsoft's Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team is seeking a Critical Environment Technician (CET) to play a vital role in maintaining the essential infrastructure that keeps our datacenters operational. This position involves a range of responsibilities, including performing basic monitoring and inspections, executing various maintenance tasks, participating in equipment troubleshooting, upholding stringent safety and security protocols, and contributing to the development of operating procedures (MOPs and SOPs).
As a CET within CO+I, you will be instrumental in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies powering Microsoft's global online services such as Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. Key Responsibilities
- Perform assigned basic tasks, such as facility rounds, observation recording, and measurements, with guidance.
- Conduct basic monitoring and inspection of critical environment facility equipment, including HVAC, mechanical systems, and building grounds, to identify and report unsafe or abnormal conditions, under supervision.
- Acquire operational knowledge of all systems and equipment, understanding associated risks and operating safely and professionally.
- Utilize the internal Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for asset tracking and managing work order requests.
- Assist with emergency monitoring and response to abnormal conditions, adhering to Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs) with supervision.
- Execute various types of maintenance (planned, predictive, corrective) as directed, following established Methods of Procedure (MOPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), with necessary supervision.
- Document all tasks, findings, and issues encountered during maintenance and troubleshooting for follow-up and escalation.
- Provide escorts for third-party contractors and vendors according to site security protocols.
- Strictly adhere to and enforce all safety and security requirements, including Job Hazard Assessments (JHAs), Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) guidelines, and business processes, to ensure safe, quality, and reliable work performance in compliance with federal, state, local, and Microsoft standards.
