As a Senior Staff Backend Engineer specializing in Global Operations Technology at Coupang in Hyderabad, you will be instrumental in designing and developing next-generation distributed systems and platforms that power Coupang's global e-commerce operations. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams across different geographies to tackle complex, large-scale challenges. You will also play a key role in mentoring engineers and promoting technical excellence throughout the organization.

What You Will Do:

• Lead the development of backend systems that are highly scalable and fault-tolerant.
• Define and implement the technical strategy in alignment with product roadmaps.
• Make critical architectural decisions and champion best practices across engineering teams.
• Partner with senior leadership to prioritize and plan strategic initiatives.
• Cultivate a culture of innovation and continuous improvement using Agile methodologies.
• Monitor and manage operational metrics, ensuring high system reliability and observability.
• Mentor and develop engineering talent through coaching and technical guidance.
• Establish and oversee operational support processes for backend services.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 15+ years of experience in software development.
• 10+ years of experience in building and operating backend services and web applications.
• Proficiency in Java and the Spring Framework.
• Deep expertise in distributed systems, storage, and server technologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• Hands-on experience with NoSQL and relational/columnar databases.
• Familiarity with CI/CD automation and Agile methodologies.
• Knowledge of observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, and the ELK stack.
• A passion for reliability engineering and operational excellence.

Work Model:

This is a hybrid role, requiring employees to work at least 3 days per week in the office in Hyderabad, with the flexibility to work from home for 2 days. Some roles may require more in-office presence due to the nature of the work.
