Cloud FinOps Engineer II

About the Role

We are hiring an experienced Cloud FinOps Engineer II at CarGurus in Boston, MA. In this role, you will establish FinOps as a core engineering capability while driving improvement across cloud cost visibility, attribution, governance, and optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain robust cloud cost attribution, tagging, and allocation capabilities specifically within the AWS environment.
• Implement and enhance CloudZero integrations, creating comprehensive dashboards, reports, and rigorous data quality checks.
• Develop automation solutions for real-time cost anomaly detection, alerting mechanisms, and investigation workflows.
• Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, Finance, and FinOps stakeholders to define valuable unit-cost metrics.
• Strengthen showback and chargeback capabilities by refining ownership, service, team, and cost-center mappings.
• Help establish critical FinOps checkpoints throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Identify and automate cloud savings opportunities including rightsizing instances, managing resource lifecycles, leveraging Savings Plans, and adopting Graviton processors.
• Contribute to AI cost governance initiatives, ensuring visibility into Bedrock usage, token/inference cost attribution, budget management, and model-cost controls.
• Create self-service tools and documentation enabling engineering teams to answer cost questions independently.
