Cloud Engineer

As a Cloud Engineer at Zscaler, you will serve as an individual contributor and a subject matter expert, actively involved in the design, implementation, and maintenance of innovative technology solutions. You will collaborate with a team of skilled technologists to deliver enterprise-scale solutions tailored to client needs. This role focuses on leveraging cutting-edge Amazon Web Services (AWS) technologies in cloud architecture, infrastructure automation, and network security.

Key Responsibilities

• Spearhead the identification, testing, and prototyping of solutions and proofs of concept on public cloud platforms.
• Contribute to the development of architectural standards and guidelines that promote scalability, performance, resilience, and operational efficiency, while strictly adhering to security and compliance mandates.
• Collaborate with application development teams to automate repetitive tasks and participate in root cause analysis activities.
• Design and implement cloud solutions utilizing industry-leading DevSecOps best practices and technologies.
• Conduct thorough reviews of software product designs to ensure alignment with architectural best practices and participate in implementation reviews to maintain consistent quality and adherence to internal standards.
• Engage closely with cross-functional leaders, including platform engineers, software developers, product managers, and business leaders, to gain a comprehensive understanding of business and technical requirements, and collaboratively select optimal strategies based on benefit-cost analyses.
• Work hand-in-hand with implementation teams to ensure effective understanding and adoption of the most efficient approaches.

Qualifications

• 1-4 years of experience in an Infrastructure Engineering, Software Engineering, or DevOps role, with a proven track record of deploying and maintaining SaaS applications.
• 1-4 years of hands-on experience with cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, complemented by at least one cloud proficiency certification.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience with key AWS services including Lambda, S3, RDS, EMR, Cloud Formation (or Terraform), Code Build, Config, Systems Manager, Service Catalog, and Lambda.
• Proficiency in building automation using scripting languages like Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
• Experience in contributing to and participating in software application development, deployment, and management processes.
• Proven experience in architecting and implementing cloud-based solutions with a strong focus on Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery.
• Experience working within agile team environments characterized by short release cycles.
• Exceptional verbal, written, and team presentation communication skills. Fluency in English is essential for this global role.
• A proactive and self-motivated approach, with the ability to remain flexible and responsive in a highly dynamic environment.
• A demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity and develop robust, effective solutions.
• Experience in delivering high-quality work on defined tasks with minimal supervision.
