Cloud DevOps Engineer
Abbott Laboratories in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India is seeking a Cloud DevOps Engineer to join the Advanced Analytics team. This central team at the Abbott Established Pharma Division (EPD) headquarters drives the transformation towards becoming a global, data-driven company, leveraging advanced technologies like Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Generative AI, and Computer Vision. Advanced analytics is a key differentiator and driver of sustainable revenue growth and optimal margins for EPD, with the team closely linked to the EPD Senior Leadership.
The Cloud DevOps Engineer will report to the Head of AA Product Development and will be instrumental in developing, operating, and refining a modern, cost-effective, and user-friendly cloud platform. This role involves leading cloud initiatives, ensuring robust infrastructure, and fostering innovation in cloud technologies to support the business's advanced analytics needs.
Core Job Responsibilities:
- Support the development and maintenance of company-wide frameworks and libraries to enhance decision-making and derive significant business value from data and analytics.
- Ensure data availability and accessibility for Advanced Analytics scopes, maintaining stable, scalable, and modular data science pipelines from exploration to deployment.
- Acquire, ingest, and process data from multiple sources into the AWS cloud platform, ensuring data integrity and security.
- Collaborate with data scientists to map data fields to hypotheses and prepare data for advanced analytical models.
- Implement and manage robust security measures for compliant data handling, including access strategies aligned with Information Security, Cyber Security, and Data Privacy principles.
- Develop and deploy smart automation tools based on cloud technologies, aligned with business priorities.
- Oversee timely delivery of Advanced Analytics solutions in collaboration with business stakeholders, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Collaborate with Data Science and AI Engineering teams to understand platform needs and lead solution development.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the AWS platform to ensure minimal downtime and optimal performance.
- Define and document best practices for application deployment and infrastructure maintenance.
- Drive continuous improvement of the AWS Cloud platform through new ideas and processes.

Position Accountability/Scope:
The Cloud DevOps Engineer is accountable for delivering targeted business impact through collaboration with key stakeholders. This role carries significant responsibility for the architecture and management of Abbott's strategic cloud platforms and AI/AA programs, enabling faster, better, and more informed business decisions.
Minimum Education:
Master's degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
Minimum Experience/Training Required:
- At least 5 years of relevant experience, with a strong track record in deploying solutions/applications on AWS.
- Proven ability to work with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data, extracting information and identifying linkages.
- Proficiency in programming languages like Javascript, Python, Scala, or Java.
- Extensive knowledge of various database technologies, including distributed processing frameworks, relational databases, MPP databases, and NoSQL data stores.
- Deep understanding of Information Security principles for compliant data handling.
- Significant experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS and its ecosystem.
- Advanced knowledge of CI/CD (Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery) environments.
- Strong background in data warehousing / ETL tools.
- Proficiency in DevOps practices and tools such as Jenkins, Terraform.
- Proficiency in serverless architecture and services like AWS Lambda.
- Understanding of cloud security best practices and implementation.
- Ability to understand business objectives and create cloud-based solutions.
- Result-driven, analytical, and creative thinking abilities.
- Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams and bridge business and data science gaps.
- Fluency in English is mandatory; additional languages are a plus.
Additional Technical Skills:
- Experience with front-end frameworks, preferably React JS.
- Knowledge of back-end frameworks like Django, Flask, or Node.js.
- Familiarity with database technologies such as RedShift, MySQL, or DynamoDB.
- Understanding of RESTful API design and development.
- Experience with version control systems like CodeCommit.
