Full Job Description
KRON Development, a dynamic software studio based in Osaka with a growing US presence, is seeking a Fractional Chief Technology Officer (CTO). This senior technical leadership role is client-facing, focusing on strategic technical guidance, effective stakeholder communication, and ensuring project delivery aligns seamlessly with overarching business objectives. The Fractional CTO will be instrumental in empowering clients through innovative software solutions and driving successful project outcomes.
As a Fractional CTO, you will be the technical voice in client engagements, contributing to discovery sessions, shaping product roadmaps, and engaging with executive stakeholders. You will collaborate closely with the KRON CTO, taking ownership of key aspects of account leadership, including communication strategies, alignment management, and proactive escalation handling. Your expertise will be crucial in defining and validating product direction, clarifying goals, scope, constraints, and success metrics, while meticulously identifying and mitigating risks.
You will architect robust solution designs and delivery approaches, providing recommendations on technology stacks, build vs. buy decisions, integration strategies, security protocols, scalability, and cost optimizations. Translating complex business needs into actionable engineering plans will be a core responsibility, involving the creation of clear epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and achievable delivery milestones. Setting clear delivery expectations regarding timelines, dependencies, risks, and blockers, and communicating these early and proactively, will be essential.
The role demands driving clarity and decisive action, facilitating trade-off discussions with non-technical stakeholders, and ensuring projects maintain momentum. Producing concise and effective documentation, including meeting notes, action items, decision logs, and executive-ready status updates, is paramount. You will also contribute to improving delivery operations through lightweight process enhancements across the discovery, build, and launch phases, emphasizing efficiency without introducing bureaucracy.
Furthermore, you will identify opportunities for account expansion by spotting upsell and cross-sell needs in areas such as performance optimization, analytics, AI, mobile development, and security. Light pre-sales support will also be a component of this role. Ultimately, your objective is to build long-term stakeholder trust by serving as a credible, steady, and insightful technical advisor for key accounts.
