CAE Analysis Engineer, Crash Structures in Pune, India
Tesla is a leader in automotive innovation, renowned for its groundbreaking vehicle designs and exceptional crash safety performance. We are seeking a talented and innovative CAE Analysis Engineer to join our team in Pune, India, and play a pivotal role in developing the crash structures for next-generation Tesla products. This position offers the opportunity to significantly impact vehicle safety through advanced simulation and optimization, working within a dynamic, cross-functional global team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and construct sophisticated CAE models to simulate and evaluate component-level and full-vehicle crash performance, adhering to rigorous regulatory and global crash rating requirements.
- Optimize the design of vehicle body structures, closures, battery systems, chassis, and other sub-systems to enhance crashworthiness based on comprehensive analysis results.
- Collaborate closely with Test Engineering teams to design, develop, and support physical crash tests at both subsystem and full-vehicle levels.
- Conduct in-depth post-crash test analysis, focusing on correlating CAE simulation outcomes with actual test results.
- Leverage validated simulations and work in close partnership with diverse engineering teams to drive design progress and elevate overall crash safety performance.
- Apply a strong understanding of Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Applied Solid Mechanics, and Material Science principles within a fast-paced product development lifecycle.
- Contribute to the development of advanced CAE methodologies to enhance modeling efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required; a Master's or PhD is preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of demonstrated, successful experience as a CAE engineer within the automotive sector is essential.
- Proven experience contributing as a CAE engineer within the core development team for at least one full vehicle development program.
- Solid theoretical knowledge of finite element analysis.
- Exceptional applied software proficiency in LS-Dyna and Primer. Experience with pre- and post-processor software such as ANSA/Meta is mandatory.
- Experience working with a variety of materials including aluminum, steel, and composite structures, along with diverse advanced joining methods for crashworthiness applications.
- Demonstrated capacity to work both independently and collaboratively on complex problem-solving challenges requiring innovative solutions.
- Proven ability to meticulously deconstruct complex test scenarios, employing strong logic and analytical skills to identify root causes and resolve correlation issues.
- Demonstrated success in iterative and collaborative engineering environments, with a high level of technical communication skills and the ability to interpret and convey analytical results to design engineers and technical leadership.
- Basic proficiency in Python scripting is a beneficial asset.
- Full professional proficiency in English speaking is required.
This role primarily supports APAC and EU regions, requiring some flexibility to accommodate different time zones and global collaboration.
