C & P HVDC Hardware Design Engineer

Join an aspiring team at Hitachi Energy in Chennai, India, as an Associate Project Engineer, specializing in the C&P (Control and Protection) hardware design of High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) power transmission links. This independent role offers significant responsibility and ample opportunities for skill development within the HVDC domain. The department is responsible for the end-to-end design, documentation, testing, and supervision of installation and commissioning for HVDC control and protection systems. You will play a crucial part in supporting and supervising on-site installations and commissioning activities globally.

Your impact will involve:

• Implementing Control and Protection hardware solutions for HVDC plants in collaboration with a team of engineers.
• Preparing Design Specifications, Overview Diagrams, and Concept Clarifications, working closely with concept coordinators.
• Participating in or leading design review meetings to identify and rectify design errors and improve process and tool efficiencies.
• Managing cubicle design, integrating all hardware components, coordinating with cubicle manufacturers, and performing necessary inspections.
• Creating Bills of Materials, terminal diagrams for Control & Protection equipment, and preparing cable lists and termination schedules.
• Providing essential support during Functional Performance Tests and Site Commissioning, ensuring engineering deliverables meet project schedule dates in alignment with customer requirements.
• Ensuring compliance with all applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your qualifications should include:

• A Diploma, B.E., or B.Tech in Electrical Engineering.
• A minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience in Power Generation EBoP or Substation Engineering for HV/EHV substation projects, focusing on areas relevant to the job description.
• Proficiency in software tools such as Windows, MS Office, AutoCAD, Electrical Engineering Base/ELCAD, and Hidraw.
• A strong ability to collaborate effectively within a multi-national and multi-cultural team environment.
• An open-minded and creative approach to working with colleagues and customers.
• High commitment and a strong willingness to perform.
