Business Intelligence Engineer

About the Role

The Analytics Operations & Programs team in Bangalore is looking for an innovative, hands-on, and customer-obsessed Business Intelligence Engineer. This role requires someone who is detail-oriented with superior verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational capabilities, excellent technical proficiency, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Primary Responsibilities

• Define problems and build analytical frameworks to help operations streamline processes.
• Identify gaps in existing processes by analyzing data and liaising with relevant teams to resolve them.
• Analyze data and metrics, sharing updates with internal teams.
• Build scalable, efficient, and automated data processes to inform business decision-making.
• Own the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing BI solutions, metrics, reports, etc., to drive key business decisions.
• Collaborate with organizational teams to identify opportunities and build analytical solutions providing decision-making capabilities and insights.
• Ensure data accuracy by validating data for new and existing tools.
• Perform root cause analysis using data to uncover core issues and assist in creating new measures for the wider Amazon team.
• Manage and execute entire projects from start to finish, including project management, data gathering/manipulation, synthesis/modeling, problem-solving, and communication of insights/recommendations.
• Collaborate with Product and Program management teams to design analytics frameworks supporting large-scale data analysis and on-ground corrective actions.

A Day in the Life

You will solve ambiguous analyses with less well-defined inputs/outputs, drive to the heart of problems, identify root causes, handle large datasets using additional tools, derive impactful recommendations that change departmental processes, understand test and control comparisons (including basic statistical measures), implement optimal communication mechanisms based on stakeholders, and communicate complex analytical insights effectively.

The AOP (Analytics Operations and Programs) team is missioned to standardize BI and analytics capabilities while reducing repeat workload for operations across multiple geographies. We provide visibility into operations performance to improve network efficiency and reduce defects. Our diverse mix of engineers, analysts, and scientists champion customer obsession by enabling data-driven decisions through near real-time dashboards, self-serve dive-deep capabilities, and advanced analytics.
