Full Job Description
Industrial Electric Mfg. (IEM), North America's largest independent full-line manufacturer of custom power distribution systems, seeks a Building Engineer for its Fremont, California facility. The Building Engineer will collaborate closely with the Senior Building Engineer and the facilities team to maintain all building systems and equipment in optimal working order.
Responsibilities include assisting with project implementation, supporting external contacts, managing facility activities and support systems, developing and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and procuring/organizing necessary parts and supplies. The role involves updating inventory lists for various items, including maintenance supplies, fixtures, and furniture. Proficiency in a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) is required for managing work requests, providing updates, and implementing new preventative maintenance schedules. The Building Engineer will conduct regular inspections and perform preventive maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, elevator, and security systems, as well as respond to emergency maintenance requests and assess safety hazards. Tasks also include preparing maintenance reports, ensuring compliance with safety and health regulations, coordinating with vendors and contractors, assisting with budget management, performing basic construction and repairs (metal and wood), assisting with plumbing and mechanical tasks, and utilizing various tools and equipment safely. Troubleshooting and repairing fans, motors, belts, lighting, audio-visual, and communication equipment is essential, with the ability to schedule external repairs when necessary. Monitoring contractor performance and managing vendor relationships to ensure work meets specifications are key duties. This position requires weekday and weekend on-call availability.
