BizOps Engineer II

About the Role

Mastercard is seeking a skilled BizOps Engineer II to join our team in Pune. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and supporting high-quality, secure, and scalable software solutions, with a strong focus on cloud data platforms like Databricks and Snowflake. You will contribute to building a robust governance framework for enterprise data storage and usage, adhering to industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop secure, scalable software solutions based on technical requirements.
• Support and work on cloud data platforms (Databricks/Snowflake), ensuring adherence to industry standards.
• Build and maintain a governance framework for cloud data storage and usage across enterprise data platforms.
• Collaborate effectively within cross-functional agile teams, including Developers and Product Owners.
• Stay updated on the latest Data Platform technology trends and industry best practices.
• Participate actively in architectural discussions, iteration planning, and feature sizing meetings.
• Plan, manage, and oversee all aspects of a Production Environment, driving continuous optimization.
• Understand and apply Mean Time To Recover (MTTR), Service Level Objectives (SLO), and Service Level Indicators (SLI) to services.
• Respond to incidents, analyze feedback, and improve the platform to reduce incident recurrence.
• Maintain live services by monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health.
• Practice sustainable incident response and blameless postmortems.
• Engage in and improve the entire lifecycle of services, from inception and design to deployment, operation, and refinement.
• Analyze ITSM activities and provide feedback to development teams on operational gaps and resiliency concerns.
• Support the application CI/CD pipeline, validating software promotion and leading DevOps automation initiatives.
• Leverage industry-standard CI/CD tools such as Git/Bitbucket, Jenkins, Maven, and Artifactory.
• Drive development, automation, and business process improvements, increasing automation to reduce manual intervention.
• Apply a holistic problem-solving approach to optimize Mean Time To Recover (MTTR) during production events.
• Work effectively with a global team across multiple geographies and time zones.
• Share knowledge and explain processes and procedures clearly.
• Contribute to Operational Resiliency by supporting application health, performance, and capacity.
• Assist in system design consulting, capacity planning, and launch reviews.
• Collaborate with development and product teams to establish effective monitoring and alerting strategies.

What You Bring:

• 2-4 years of hands-on experience with cloud data platforms.
• Proficiency in Databricks and AWS, with a deep understanding of their architectures.
• Experience managing, developing, and supporting data lakes, lakehouses, warehouses (on-premise and cloud), ETL solutions, and other analytics solutions.
• Experience working with global development/engineering teams.
• In-depth practical experience with native cloud services, particularly Azure and/or AWS.
• Strong understanding of cloud DevOps practices and implementation.
• Experience in cloud data migration for large enterprise data warehouse environments.
• Understanding of cloud data governance, including compute optimization, cost control, and user profile management.
• In-depth understanding of cloud operations strategy and user management across various cloud providers and platforms.
• Strong understanding and hands-on experience with cloud security models, encryption strategies, and network layers for hybrid on-premise and cloud environments.
• Experience in establishing new engineering teams and guiding them to a steady state.
• Understanding of database technologies such as Hadoop, Oracle, and SQL Server.
• Competence in Linux and Unix Shell Scripting.
