Full Job Description
McCain Foods is strengthening its Data & Analytics capabilities in the India GDTC and is seeking a talented BI Data Modeler to join the team. This role focuses on empowering users with business intelligence through effective data modeling, understanding business needs, and delivering data solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong aptitude for business intelligence, excellent interpersonal skills, familiarity with agile methodologies, and experience with BI tools and Big Data environments. The ability to listen, understand, and translate complex business and technical data needs is crucial.
Reporting to the Manager, BI and Data Modeling, the BI Data Modeler will design, develop, and implement data assets that drive data-driven decision-making across the organization. Key responsibilities include end-to-end BI data modeling and reporting in Power BI, collaborating with stakeholders, resolving issues, ensuring quality assurance, and modernizing data assets for increased adoption. This involves requirement gathering from subject matter experts, ensuring data is fit for purpose and compliant with governance standards, and collaborating with data engineering teams. The role also requires supporting architecture design, promoting BI system adoption, and staying current with BI tools and trends.
This position offers mentorship and leadership opportunities for junior analysts, encouraging best practices in data modeling and requirements gathering. The role is based in New Delhi, National Capital Territory, India, with a requirement of at least 3 days per week at the Gurgaon Office.
Key Qualifications & Experiences:
- 6-10 years of experience in data-driven environments, including data modeling.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration or a STEM-based program.
- Proven expertise in designing and implementing complex data models using Power BI or similar tools (e.g., Microstrategy, Qlik, Tableau).
- Proficiency in DAX and SQL.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure or AWS), data warehousing, and business intelligence concepts and toolsets.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills for BI solutions.
- Solid understanding of performance tuning, modern data storage architecture, data analytics, and reporting tools.
- Experience analyzing large, complex datasets (structured and unstructured) with strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills.
- Ability to develop advanced dashboards in Power BI, adhering to data visualization and BI best practices.
- Understanding of data governance principles and requirements gathering best practices.
- (Nice to have) Experience with Azure Data Platform.
- (Nice to have) Working knowledge of other programming languages like Python or R.
- Strong data literacy, ability to translate non-technical requirements into BI solutions, and effective communication skills.
- Proven ability to engage, influence, and be a trusted advisor to business stakeholders.
