Backend Engineer

SmartBear is seeking a skilled Backend Engineer to join the Zephyr Enterprise team in Bengaluru, India. In this role, you will be instrumental in transforming Zephyr Enterprise to better align with end-user requirements while maintaining its market-leading position in Test Management. You will solve complex business challenges and build highly scalable, available, and user-friendly applications.

• Design, document, and implement new systems and enhancements to existing software using Java 17, adhering to best practices and security standards.
• Develop distributed systems and microservices, working with technologies such as HTTP, REST, JSON, XML, and messaging queues.
• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to deliver high-quality products and services within an agile (Scrum) development environment.
• Create automated tests, contribute to system testing, and participate in problem resolution with the engineering team.
• Develop scalable, real-time, low-latency data egress/ingress solutions.

We are looking for candidates with at least 1 year of hands-on experience with Java 17 or higher, a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, and a strong understanding of API-driven development (SOAP, REST, JSON). Experience with the Spring Framework, microservices architecture, application performance tuning, scaling, security, resiliency best practices, relational or NoSQL databases, and cloud platforms like AWS (RDS, S3, Elastic Cache) is highly desirable. Familiarity with messaging queues (preferably RabbitMQ), the Atlassian suite, and React/JavaScript is a plus.
