Backend Engineer

As a Backend Engineer - Treasury Tech at D.E. Shaw in Bangalore, you will collaborate with multiple business teams to research data needs and develop robust libraries for central portfolio storage (Trades, Positions, PnL) within the DESCO ecosystem. Key responsibilities include handling big data optimization, designing scalable solutions, ensuring quality control, executing projects in an agile environment, coordinating cross-functionally, managing people resources, and overseeing project management.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• 7-10 years of core software development experience with strong coding skills and interest in big data
• Proficiency in Python or similar programming languages
• Solid understanding of SDLC, quantitative abilities, design patterns, and analytical skills within agile frameworks
• Strong interpersonal, stakeholder management, and communication skills
• Ability to execute independent projects and translate complex data into understandable results
• Demonstrated focus, discipline, attention to detail, and ability to work in interdisciplinary teams
• At least 1 year of people/team leadership experience managing a team of minimum 2 members
• Familiarity with financial markets is an advantage
