Position: Backend Engineer (Contract) – Remote

About the Role:
Work on complex backend engineering tasks, including full-stack, infrastructure, and systems projects. Review, debug, and improve code across various technical environments. Design and evaluate solutions for APIs, databases, services, integrations, testing, and deployment workflows. Assess trade-offs in scalability, maintainability, performance, reliability, security, and developer experience. Communicate technical reasoning clearly in writing. Collaborate with customer teams on technical reviews and problem-solving. Adapt quickly to new codebases, frameworks, and requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop, maintain, and optimize backend systems and APIs.
2. Review and improve production-level code, ensuring quality and reliability.
3. Design scalable, secure, and maintainable software solutions.
4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement technical decisions.
5. Analyze and debug complex technical challenges.

Requirements:

• Strong hands-on experience in backend or full-stack engineering.
• Proven expertise in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, Java, C++, Go, or Ruby.
• Experience with production-grade applications, APIs, databases, and integrations.
• Deep understanding of software engineering fundamentals, debugging, testing, and architecture.
• Ability to explain technical decisions clearly and objectively.
• Comfort with unfamiliar codebases and evolving technical requirements.
