About the Role
We're seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join our growing Control Plane Team at Tailscale. You will work as part of the engineering team to develop the Tailscale product, contributing to both open source client code and related backend services.
In this role, you'll take ownership of the entire product lifecycle, from writing code to ideation and strategic decision-making. Working closely with UX/UI designers and product managers, you will shape features for our fully distributed team.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and document core software components as part of a collaborative engineering team.
- Develop product features including the control plane, relay infrastructure, and identity integrations.
- Maintain observability for running services, participate in incident response, and handle customer support escalations.
- Analyze and improve efficiency, scalability, stability, and security of system resources with a security-first mindset.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with experience in distributed systems, Go programming language, SQL databases, networking (IP addressing, routing), constructive feedback skills, startup flexibility, and excellent communication abilities.
