About the Role:

As a Backend Developer at Barclays, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and improving software solutions. You will leverage various engineering methodologies to provide essential business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading the design and development of enterprise-grade applications using Java, Spring Boot, Angular, JavaScript, TypeScript, and Oracle.
• Designing and implementing cloud-native solutions using Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and translate business needs into robust solutions.
• Ensuring code quality through best practices in design patterns, testing, and performance optimization.
• Mentoring junior developers and contributing to technical leadership.
• Developing and delivering high-quality, scalable, maintainable, and optimized software solutions.
• Collaborating with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define requirements and devise solution strategies.
• Participating in code reviews and promoting a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Staying informed of industry technology trends and contributing to technology communities.
• Adhering to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities and protect sensitive data.
• Implementing effective unit testing practices for code reliability.

Key Technical Skills:

• Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot for backend development.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or OpenShift.
• Exposure to enterprise integration patterns and messaging systems (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• Hands-on experience with Angular, JavaScript, and TypeScript for frontend development.
• Expertise in cloud development, including containerization with Docker and orchestration using Kubernetes.
• Proven experience in setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
• Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and secure coding practices.

Desirable Skillset:

• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps culture.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex systems.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
