Back End Developer

About The Role

We are seeking Back End Developers based in Singapore (fully remote) to design, build, and optimize server-side systems and APIs for cutting-edge AI products. Responsibilities include constructing data pipelines, model-serving infrastructure, and scalable microservices capable of handling real-world traffic at scale.

Role Details:

• Type: Hourly Contract
• Location: Remote (Singapore based)
• Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain robust back end services, APIs, and data pipelines.
• Build scalable, high-performance server-side architecture for AI training and inference workloads.
• Write clean, well-documented, and testable code following engineering best practices.
• Integrate with databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB), message queues, cloud services (AWS/GCP/Azure), and third-party APIs.
• Optimize system performance, reliability, and scalability as usage grows.
• Collaborate asynchronously with distributed teams of engineers, researchers, and product leads across time zones.
• Troubleshoot production issues, conduct code reviews, and contribute to architectural decisions independently.

Who You Are

You are proficient in back end languages such as Python, Go, Java, Node.js, or Rust. You possess a solid understanding of RESTful API design, microservices architecture, and distributed systems. You are experienced with relational/NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis) and comfortable working on cloud platforms.

You value version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes). You have strong problem-solving skills to debug complex systems independently and thrive in self-directed environments without close supervision. Clear communication is essential for documenting decisions and collaborating globally.

Nice to Have

• Experience building infrastructure specifically for machine learning or AI systems.
• Familiarity with data processing frameworks like Apache Kafka, Spark, or Airflow.
• Background in performance optimization, caching strategies, or high-throughput systems.
• Knowledge of authentication/authorization and security best practices.
