Automotive Cybersecurity Focus

Qualcomm is leveraging its expertise in digital wireless technologies to play a pivotal role in the evolution of automotive infotainment and autonomous driving. We are investing in critical supporting technologies such as 4G, 5G, ADAS, and Deep Learning. Our Automotive Security team is dedicated to delivering optimized solutions built on Safety CPU cores, DSPs, computer vision, and machine learning algorithms.

We are seeking experienced engineers with a deep understanding of system and SoC-level automotive cybersecurity concepts and implementations. A strong knowledge of ISO 21434 cybersecurity standards and processes is essential. This hands-on role involves analyzing and enhancing our hardware development processes to align with ISO 21434 requirements. Candidates must possess thorough knowledge of ISO 21434 and ISO 26262 standards to independently conduct functional safety and cybersecurity audits and assessments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and enhance hardware development processes and related work products to meet cybersecurity standards.
  • Provide training on ISO 21434/ISO 26262, focusing on the application of Qualcomm's best practices.
  • Facilitate and review Threat Analysis and Risk Assessments (TARA) and Vulnerability Analysis and Risk Assessments (VARA).
  • Independently conduct cybersecurity audits and assessments, guiding hardware design and development teams. Provide feedback, identify process improvements, and follow up with internal teams.
  • Collaborate closely with SoC Design and IP teams, third-party IP vendors, Software teams, functional safety and cybersecurity managers, the Quality team, and customers to ensure effective process deployment.
  • Participate in external and customer cybersecurity and functional safety audits and assessments, assisting in corrective actions.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of automotive industry cybersecurity best practices and influence internal stakeholders with actionable data to close expectation gaps promptly.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers in Cybersecurity, Functional Safety, and Quality assurance throughout the organization.
  • Facilitate qualitative and quantitative safety analyses and their reviews.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of Systems Engineering / VLSI design or related work experience.
  • Proficiency in product development flows and validation.
  • Proven experience leading audits of development processes, with comfort in assessments and reporting Quality metrics.
  • Hands-on experience with automotive quality processes, including ISO 21434, ISO 26262, TARA, VARA, DFMEA, FTA, FMEDA, 8D, quality agreements, PCNs / EOLs, customer audits, AEC-Q100 requirements, ISO9001, and IATF 16949.
  • Strong structured problem-solving capabilities and the ability to collaborate with teams on root cause analyses.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills, and presentation skills.
