Automation Engineer - Appian Specialist
RELX, a global leader in information-based analytics and decision tools, is seeking a dynamic and hands-on Automation Engineer to join our Automation Delivery Center (ADC) team in Bengaluru / Bangalore and Chennai. This is a permanent role for an experienced professional passionate about process automation and driven by technology-agnostic adaptability.
As an Automation Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in identifying and implementing automation opportunities across various business units. You will collaborate closely with both business and technical teams to design, develop, and deploy robust automation solutions, leveraging low-code/no-code platforms, with a strong emphasis on Appian.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze intricate business processes across diverse domains including Finance, Customer Facing, Middleware, Sales & Marketing, to pinpoint automation potential.
- Design, develop, and deploy scalable automation solutions using low-code/no-code platforms, with a mandatory focus on Appian.
- Engage with stakeholders to effectively gather requirements, create intuitive mockups, and deliver impactful demonstrations.
- Seamlessly integrate automation solutions with databases, APIs, and essential third-party systems.
- Write scripts and code, preferably in Python, to enhance platform capabilities or develop custom automation solutions when necessary.
- Champion and ensure adherence to best practices, security protocols, and compliance standards throughout the automation delivery lifecycle.
- Actively participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to the continuous improvement of our automation processes and methodologies.
- Create comprehensive documentation for deployed solutions, provide user training, and offer ongoing support for automations.
- Stay abreast of emerging automation technologies and proactively recommend their adoption to enhance our capabilities.
Required Qualifications:
- Mandatory hands-on experience with Appian as a primary low-code/no-code automation platform.
- Proficiency in scripting and coding, with Python being the preferred language; experience with SQL, Java, or other relevant languages is a plus.
- Proven experience integrating automation solutions with databases, REST/SOAP APIs, and various third-party systems.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and principles.
- Exceptional communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- A technology-agnostic mindset with a strong willingness to learn and adapt to new tools and platforms.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience automating processes across multiple business domains (e.g., Finance, Sales, Customer Service).
- Relevant certifications in Appian or other leading low-code/no-code platforms or automation tools.
- Experience with process modeling, workflow design, and Robotic Process Automation (RPA).
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, and familiarity with DevOps practices.
