Automation & Control Engineer for Yaw System (m/f/d) at Nordex Group, Chennai

Nordex Group is seeking an experienced Automation & Control Engineer to join our engineering team in Chennai, India. This role is crucial for developing control algorithms for industrial systems, with a specific focus on yaw systems for wind turbines. You will play a key role in load analysis and evaluation throughout the system design, validation, and optimization phases.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct load analysis and evaluation for pitch and yaw systems and their components (drives, converters, energy storage) using Matlab.
• Interpret load data to inform dimensioning, performance assessment, and system optimization.
• Utilize Simulink for the modeling, simulation, and analysis of control functions.
• Adapt, implement, and verify model-based design control function blocks within Simulink.
• Develop, adapt, and maintain control software using Structured Text (ST), with a preference for Siemens PLCs.
• Analyze existing control and system behavior to identify and implement improvements.
• Support system integration, testing, and validation activities.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for software, functions, test results, development reports, and manage PLM data.
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Electrical, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related engineering field.
• 2–3 years of professional experience in automation, control software, or PLC-based systems.
• Demonstrated experience or a strong interest in load analysis, system dimensioning, and motion/drive systems.
• Proficient hands-on experience with Matlab/Simulink.
• Knowledge of Siemens PLC environments (e.g., TIA Portal) and Structured Text (ST) is advantageous.
• Solid understanding of industrial automation and control fundamentals.
• Experience with commissioning, testing, and structured software development methodologies (version control, Python/C/C++) is a plus.
• A structured, independent, and solution-oriented mindset, with fluent English communication skills.
