Audit Director – Strategic Leadership in Internal Audit for CIBC India

As the Audit Director at CIBC India, you will lead a high-impact internal audit function, providing independent, risk-based assurance to the Board and Senior Management. Your role will ensure the adequacy of internal controls, risk management, and governance systems, aligning with global standards and local regulatory requirements (e.g., RBI).

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive internal audit strategy, advising the CEO and senior management on audit findings, risk exposures, and improvement recommendations.
• Audit Execution & Oversight: Plan, coordinate, and oversee all internal audits (financial, operational, compliance) for CIBC India, ensuring timely completion and high-quality reporting.
• Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate key risks across business units, recommending controls and mitigation strategies.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to local (India) and international regulations, collaborating with external auditors and regulatory bodies.
• Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the internal audit team, fostering a culture of professional growth, ethical conduct, and continuous improvement.
• Reporting: Prepare and present audit reports, dashboards, and track remediation of findings to stakeholders.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Risk, Compliance, Legal, HR, and Finance teams to understand business risks and opportunities.

Qualifications & Experience:

• 10+ years in progressive internal audit roles, preferably in financial services.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting (advanced degree/CA/CPA/CIA preferred).
• Deep knowledge of Indian regulatory frameworks (e.g., RBI) and global auditing best practices.
• Strong leadership, data literacy, and presentation skills to communicate complex insights.
• Ability to manage diverse audit teams and drive process improvements.
