Associate Technical Writer - Contract (6 Months)

Role Overview
The Information Experience and Design Team seeks an Associate Technical Writer to create exceptional documentation and educational materials for our digital platforms. You will be a vital link between Product Management, Release Management, Engineering, and QA, ensuring documentation is integral to the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). This role demands a proactive individual capable of analyzing complex features, supporting team initiatives, and aligning content with a rapid release schedule.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Documentation & Content Development
- Produce, review, and maintain comprehensive technical documents, including software/systems engineering guides, system operations, user manuals, integration guides, and API developer documentation (REST/.NET).
- Uphold quality standards and tailor content for specific audiences through peer editing and adherence to style guides.
- Develop documentation and collateral for intricate technical requests to support high-quality product releases.
- Contribute to writing styles, standards, and information modeling to ensure a consistent voice across the W portfolio.
Information Architecture & Operations
- Assist in creating and maintaining the information architecture and master data for the documentation ecosystem.
- Promote best practices and implement new processes, formats, and guidelines to optimize the Document Development Life Cycle (DDLC).
- Generate and review time estimates for technical documentation tasks to aid project cost estimation.
- Serve as a point of contact for internal teams regarding documentation needs, evaluating requirements, and managing workflow.
Product Analysis & Training
- Assess, analyze, and challenge product features during development to ensure accurate documentation.
- Identify training needs, create high-quality training materials, and deliver technical product training to internal teams and customers.
- Investigate and resolve complex, non-standard technical documentation issues to support the local team.
Qualifications & Skill Requirements
- A minimum of 3 to 4 years of experience as a Technical Writer creating technical product documentation for software.
- Associate's degree (Bachelor's preferred) in English, Technical Writing, Journalism, Engineering, or Computer Science.
- Proficiency in leveraging AI and Agentic workflows for architecting taxonomies, ontologies, and technical dictionaries, and experience using AI for automated content generation and editorial optimization.
- Proficiency with Confluence/JIRA, Git & GitHub, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Thorough understanding of the Document Development Life Cycle (DDLC) and its integration within the SDLC and Agile methodologies.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with evolving requirements and conduct technical interviews to gather information.
