This role supports the design and development of data products within the IT Data Domain. You will collaborate with senior analysts, Product Owners, and Data Engineers to analyze IT data sources, document requirements, and define transformation logic for modern data platforms.

Role Overview

As a Junior Business & Data Analyst, you will contribute to data product development by analyzing IT data sources, documenting requirements, and assisting in the definition of transformation logic. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career analyst to work with data, learn new technologies, and support IT Service Management, IT Operations, and related processes. Your work will enhance the quality and value of data products and provide exposure to domain experts and data engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities

Data Product Support & Requirements

• Assist in defining data product requirements, including data elements, business definitions, and user needs.
• Gather, document, and refine user stories for data product enhancements.
• Map source data from ITSM, IT Operations, monitoring tools, or CMDB systems into logical data structures.

Data Analysis & Transformation Logic

• Analyze source datasets to understand data availability, quality, and relationships.
• Document transformation logic, joins, filters, and derivations for data pipeline engineers.
• Utilize SQL for data exploration, assumption validation, and prototype creation.

Collaboration With Senior Team Members

• Develop data models, transformation rules, and documentation under the guidance of senior analysts.
• Partner with data engineers to clarify requirements and ensure correct understanding of transformations.
• Support testing activities by validating outputs against requirements and logic.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

• Participate in requirement-gathering meetings and workshops.
• Clearly communicate findings, ask clarifying questions, and prepare documentation for technical and business audiences.
• Practice active listening and constructively challenge assumptions to improve solutions.

Learning, Growth & Contribution

• Learn about IT Service Management, IT Operations, and system monitoring data structures.
• Develop skills in SQL, data modeling, data product lifecycle, and data domain governance.
• Take ownership of smaller features and contribute to data product improvements.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field.
• 1-3 years of experience in analytics, reporting, data analysis, or a related internship/entry-level role.
• Experience with databases, SQL queries, or data preparation for reporting is a plus.

Technical Skills

• Basic SQL skills with a willingness to advance.
• Familiarity with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Spotfire) is beneficial.
• Understanding of data concepts such as tables, joins, schemas, and data quality.
