Ontic Technologies is seeking an Associate Software Engineer specializing in Frontend development to join our team in Pune, Maharashtra. This role is ideal for early-career engineers eager to build robust user interfaces for our Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform. You will collaborate closely with experienced engineers to develop new UI features, resolve issues, and refine existing user experiences. The position offers a valuable opportunity to learn the principles of creating scalable, high-performing, and user-friendly web applications. Your primary focus will be on writing high-quality code, mastering frontend fundamentals, and progressing towards becoming an independent contributor.
Key Responsibilities
Development & Implementation
- Contribute to the development of user interfaces and features utilizing JavaScript, TypeScript, React, HTML, and CSS.
- Implement well-defined UI components and user flows under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Integrate frontend components with backend services by working with APIs.
Code Quality & Best Practices
- Write clean, maintainable, and reusable code that adheres to established engineering standards.
- Actively participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback to enhance code quality.
- Adhere to best practices in component design, state management, and accessibility standards.
Learning & Technical Growth
- Develop a strong understanding of frontend architecture, component-based design patterns, and application state management.
- Learn and apply best practices in debugging, testing, and performance optimization techniques.
- Gain familiarity with modern frontend development tools and build systems.
Collaboration
- Work effectively with engineers, designers, and product teams to achieve assigned tasks.
- Clearly communicate progress, identify any blockers, and raise questions as needed.
- Incorporate feedback from design and product stakeholders to ensure optimal outcomes.
Production Awareness
- Support basic debugging and issue resolution within development and production environments.
- Develop an understanding of logging, monitoring, and performance tracking tools.
- Grasp the fundamentals of browser behavior and frontend performance optimization.
Qualifications and Experiences
- 0–2 years of software engineering experience, including internships, academic projects, or personal projects.
- Foundational knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Basic understanding of React or similar frontend frameworks.
- Solid grasp of core programming concepts, data structures, and problem-solving methodologies.
- Familiarity with REST APIs and asynchronous programming concepts (promises, async/await).
- Exposure to version control systems such as Git.
- Awareness of the frontend development lifecycle, including build tools, bundling, and deployment basics.
- A strong willingness to learn and grow within a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Effective communication and collaboration capabilities.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience through academic, personal, or open-source projects.
