Site Reliability Engineer (Associate Senior) - Pune, India

Join Global Payments in Pune, India, as an Associate Senior Site Reliability Engineer and play a crucial role in ensuring the availability, latency, performance, efficiency, and scalability of our critical systems. You will bridge the gap between development and operations by applying software engineering principles to system administration. This role involves a mix of operational responsibilities, including on-call duties, and the development of robust systems and software to enhance site reliability and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct chaos engineering experiments to identify system vulnerabilities and implement remediation plans.
• Optimize system performance and design solutions to achieve higher performance tiers.
• Leverage DevOps and GitOps practices to enhance automation and enable self-service capabilities.
• Ensure high availability, disaster resilience, and implement self-monitoring and self-healing mechanisms for services.
• Execute game days to proactively test reliability assumptions and uncover potential failure points before they impact customers.
• Review system designs to bolster platform stability and mitigate risks.
• Develop and maintain systems for proactive monitoring of production and non-production virtualized infrastructure health, performance, and security.
• Refine monitoring and alerting systems to ensure timely and relevant notifications for engineers.
• Collaborate with the Technical Operations Team to troubleshoot system and network issues.
• Drive improvements in our Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), practices, and tooling to incorporate Site Reliability Engineering best practices.
• Create and enhance runbooks and documentation to support operational excellence.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business / Management Information Systems, or a related field.
• Typically 2-4 years of relevant experience in site reliability, DevOps, or systems engineering.

Desired Skills and Capabilities:

• Proven expertise in developing professional skills and applying company policies to resolve diverse issues.
• Ability to work on problems of moderate scope, analyzing situations and data from multiple perspectives, and exercising judgment within defined procedures.
• Experience with public and private cloud environments, Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible, OpenShift, Kubernetes, or AWS EKS is highly desirable.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to build productive working relationships.
