About the Role

We are looking for an experienced QA Architect / Lead to define and manage the testing strategy and infrastructure across our entire platform. This role requires a technical lead with extensive experience in defining comprehensive test frameworks, establishing test conventions, building validation infrastructure, and leading significant load testing campaigns. You will collaborate closely with architects and data engineering teams to ensure the operational maturity and production readiness of our platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and own the four-tier test framework: unit, integration, contract, and acceptance, including CI gates.
• Establish and enforce the spec-to-test traceability standard, ensuring regulatory defensibility.
• Build and maintain test infrastructure, including fixture management, DBT test runners, FHIR validator integration, and end-to-end test orchestration.
• Establish synthetic test data conventions to ensure comprehensive coverage of edge cases without using real PHI.
• Lead the load testing campaign to validate high-volume data ingest, peak capacity, and query performance.
• Develop and lead the parallel-run validation framework for platform cutover, defining data comparison, tolerances, and rollback triggers.
• Define performance SLOs and monitoring strategies, building dashboards for incident response and trend analysis.
• Define and enforce CI/CD test gates to manage code merging and deployment processes.
• Build test automation for FHIR profile validation, ensuring conformance in CI and runtime paths.
• Lead testing for bidirectional FHIR flows, including loop prevention and write-authority rules.
• Establish testing patterns for MDM integration, validating match scenarios and error handling.
• Lead validation of data quality across all layers, including CDM, freshness checks, anomaly detection, and governance integration.
• Mentor data engineers on test authorship within the spec-driven development framework.
• Participate in incident response and root cause analysis, driving test additions to prevent recurrence.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
• 8+ years of QA experience, with 3-5 years focused on data quality, data warehousing, or data platform testing, and 2+ years in a lead or architect role.
• Proven experience defining and operating QA strategies for large-scale data platforms in cloud environments, preferably GCP.
• Strong Python and SQL skills for test framework development, with familiarity with pytest and dbt-test conventions.
• Experience with data validation across batch, streaming (Kafka), and event-driven pipelines.
• Experience with dbt, including its native testing framework, dbt-expectations or dbt-utils, custom macros, and source freshness checks.
• Experience testing Iceberg or other open-table-format-backed warehouses.
• Experience with healthcare data quality testing, including HL7v2, FHIR profile conformance, terminology binding, and master data quality.
• Experience designing and executing load tests for data platforms at scale using tools like JMeter, Gatling, or Locust.
• Experience with parallel-run validation and reconciliation between legacy and replacement data systems.
• Strong CI/CD experience with platforms like GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Cloud Build.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with HL7 FHIR validator, Inferno, or HAPI FHIR validation tooling.
• Atlan experience for data quality metric publication and governance integration.
• Experience with chaos engineering or resilience testing for streaming data systems.
• Experience integrating spec-driven or contract-first frameworks with QA workflows.
• Test management tools experience (TestRail, Zephyr, qTest).
• Experience working in HIPAA-regulated environments.
• QA or cloud platform certifications.
