Associate Data Scientist (L3) – Commercial (Gen Med, AIN)
Amgen is seeking an Associate Data Scientist (L3) to join our Commercial team focusing on the General Medicine (Gen Med) portfolio and Artificial Intelligence & Networks (AIN). This entry-level role is crucial for supporting data science initiatives, contributing to analytics, modeling, and generating insights under the guidance of Data Science Leads and senior team members. We are looking for individuals who are part of something bigger, driven by a mission to serve patients.
What you will do
- Support analytics and data science projects for commercial use cases within the Gen Med portfolio.
- Assist with data preparation, exploratory analysis, and feature engineering to support modeling efforts.
- Contribute to the development and testing of predictive models and analytical frameworks under senior guidance.
- Perform metric tracking, performance analysis, and validation checks with a high degree of accuracy.
- Support the creation of insight summaries, visualizations, and presentations for business stakeholders.
- Maintain and update code, dashboards, and analytical assets using Python and SQL.
- Adhere to best practices for documentation, quality assurance, and reproducibility.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to meet project timelines and communicate progress.
- Engage in continuous learning of predictive modeling, experimentation, and commercial analytics methods.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- 1–3 years of experience in analytics, data science, or related roles.
- Working knowledge of Python and SQL.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to high-quality, accurate work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to predictive modeling, experimentation, or statistical analysis.
- Familiarity with commercial analytics or marketing performance measurement.
- A keen interest in healthcare, pharmaceutical, or life sciences analytics.
- Experience with tools such as Jupyter notebooks, Git, or data visualization platforms.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills and a proactive learning attitude in a fast-paced environment.
