Associate Data Engineer

Priceline's Technology team is seeking an Associate Data Engineer in Mumbai, India, to join our fast-paced, ideas-led environment. This role is eligible for a hybrid work model, requiring two days in the office.

As a Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in working with big data, which is at the core of our business. You will contribute to data systems that process billions of events daily, utilizing sophisticated big data technologies to understand, meet, and anticipate customer needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Participate in cloud migration initiatives and modernize existing data systems.
• Support data systems that handle hundreds of millions of real-time events per day.
• Maintain and develop early warning and analytics systems using advanced big data technologies.
• Collaborate on building software for data collection and querying, and compose queries for investigative purposes.
• Analyze data to provide recommendations for improving product performance and customer acquisition.
• Maintain clear and consistent communication with the project team and stakeholders, ensuring up-to-date information flow.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot issues within the data infrastructure.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science.
• Minimum of 2 years of Data Engineering experience using Python.
• Proficiency in writing and analyzing SQL constructs.
• Basic understanding of Big Data solutions such as Hadoop and Spark.
• Experience with Business Intelligence tools, specifically Tableau and VisualCron.
• Familiarity with strategies like indexing, machine-learned rankings, clustering, and distributed concepts.
