Associate – Data Engineer

Join the Bain Capability Network (BCN) Data business as an Associate in Data Engineering, focusing on expanding our science capabilities within the Private Equity Group (PEG) Innovation Team (PIT).

This role is pivotal in supporting the beta production of AI applications for PEG, aligning with Bain’s DD2030 (Due Diligence 2030) initiative. A significant emphasis will be placed on Generative AI applications, driving innovation in the private equity sector. The position also offers the opportunity to contribute to broader PIT automation efforts, aimed at streamlining processes and improving efficiency throughout the investment lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Developing scalable, flexible, and user-friendly applications using a robust technology stack.
• Constructing, testing, installing, and maintaining databases and backends for software products.
• Participating in the planning and execution of acceptance testing and software implementation, ensuring successful customer adoption.
• Building secure and high-performance services and APIs.
• Evaluating and recommending new technologies, including open-source frameworks and tools.
• Ensuring code maintainability and quality.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in cloud-based database development (AWS/Azure), including environment creation and management.
• Proficiency in Python and advanced SQL, including stored procedures, query optimization, and index maintenance.
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and WebSockets for application integration.
• Experience with data modeling and data warehousing principles.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub, Docker, containerization) is a plus.
• A motivated and collaborative team player with strong communication skills, capable of engaging with both technical and non-technical senior stakeholders.
• Proven ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines.
