Associate

Join Bain & Company's Gurugram-based Sustainability Center of Excellence as an Associate AI/ML Engineer, playing a pivotal role in developing and deploying impactful AI and ML-driven solutions for internal tools and strategic initiatives. You will lead discrete ML workstreams and proof-of-concept projects, support complex digital builds under senior mentorship, and deliver data-driven outputs.

This role offers exposure to diverse digital initiatives, including ML model development, Generative AI integration, workflow automation, experimentation frameworks, and AI-enhanced product features. You will apply strong technical and analytical skills to transform structured problem statements into scalable AI solutions, requiring a robust technical foundation, proficiency with structured and unstructured data, and the ability to operationalize ML/GenAI models.

Key Responsibilities:

AI / ML Development & Analysis

• Lead and deliver high-quality ML or GenAI workstreams.
• Translate business or product requirements into ML-driven analytical solutions.
• Perform data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model experimentation.
• Develop, train, evaluate, and refine ML models for proof-of-concept and internal applications.
• Proactively identify and propose solutions for risks, technical trade-offs, and performance limitations.

GenAI & Model Integration

• Apply advanced prompt engineering techniques tailored to specific use cases.
• Integrate Generative AI APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Azure OpenAI) into applications and workflows.
• Combine LLM outputs with structured logic, APIs, and backend services.
• Evaluate model outputs for reliability, bias, and usability, iterating for performance improvement.

Technical & Automation Capabilities

• Build and maintain scalable ML pipelines and experimentation frameworks.
• Support API-based deployment and integration of AI models into digital tools.
• Utilize coding and automation tools, such as Python, to streamline workflows.
• Explore and leverage emerging AI capabilities to enhance project efficiency and innovation.

Collaboration & Teaming

• Collaborate effectively with engineers, designers, and business stakeholders in a dynamic environment.
• Support larger digital initiatives under senior guidance while independently managing assigned workstreams.
• Clearly communicate technical findings to non-technical audiences.

About You:

• Bachelor's degree with 2-4 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree with 1-2 years of experience.
• Educational background in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
• Demonstrated applied academic or project-based ML/AI experience.
• Prior experience in consulting is a plus but not required.

Skills & Expertise:

• Strong proficiency in Python.
• Experience with ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, or similar.
• Solid understanding of model evaluation, experimentation, and data preprocessing techniques.
• Working knowledge of Generative AI tools and LLM integration.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to translate technical findings into actionable insights.
• Ability to understand business and sector specifics, including sustainability knowledge and operational understanding of consulting firms.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for effective teamwork in a consulting setting.
