We are seeking a talented and motivated Associate Backend Engineer to join our team. This role is for experienced programmers who can act as senior developers within an agile environment.
Role Overview
- Design, code, deploy, and participate in the release deployment cycle alongside multiple squads or hives.
- Create user stories, write test cases, debug code, and develop complex solutions based on technical design documents.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy: Serve as a hands-on senior developer responsible for code quality in the repository. Act as a custodian for Java backend expertise and convey wider domain strategies.
Business & Delivery: Contribute to squad delivery, evolve engineering practices towards automation and innovation, and collaborate with product owners to meet functional requirements.
Governance & Risk: Manage technical risks, align with architects on solution design to minimize debt, implement security controls, ensure compliance with bank guidelines (data protection), and complete necessary impact assessments for production releases.
Culture & People: Promote a feedback-rich environment, share knowledge within the engineering community, lead internal workshops, and encourage team participation in innovation.
Required Skills
- Languages: Java (Spring Boot 3.x), J2EE
- Architecture: Microservices, System Design, RESTful API, OAuth 2/OIDC
- Databases: Relational DBs (Postgres, Oracle) and NoSQL databases
- Infrastructure & DevOps: Docker, Kubernetes/EKS/OCP/EC, Linux, Git/GitHub, Maven/Gradle, Helm Charts
- CICD Tools: Azure ADO, Jenkins
- Messaging: MQ, Kafka, Solace
- Observability: ELK Stack (Logstash/Kibana), Grafana/Prometheus
Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 7+ years in IT with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in Agile methodologies and Lean frameworks.
- Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Ability to analyze logs using ELK stack independently.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent certification.
