Assistant Manager, Data Protection - Risk Management Services

EY's Risk Management team plays a critical role in managing the firm's internal risks, from client acceptance to ongoing engagement management. As a rapidly growing Center of Excellence for standardized quality and compliance activities, our Risk Management team at the Global Delivery Services location is seeking an Assistant Manager to support UKI Data Protection initiatives.

The Opportunity:

This role involves supporting Global Risk Management by deploying professionals for outcome-based projects and acting as an incubator for new Risk Management services. You will be an extension of the onshore RM teams, streamlining processes, onboarding new opportunities, designing end-to-end solutions, and managing specific project activities.

Focus on Data Protection:

With the evolving landscape of data protection laws, including the UK Data Protection Act 2018 and its implications post-Brexit, the central Data Protection team is expanding its compliance function. The primary purpose of this role is to ensure the firm's compliance with applicable privacy legislation by performing and managing front-line compliance work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct and manage front-line data protection compliance activities, including data subject requests, data incident management, data access requests, privacy impact assessments, and compliance health-checks.
• Contribute to and lead the development and deployment of monitoring and compliance processes.
• Provide clear, practical, and professional advice and support.
• Act as a liaison between client teams, RMS team members, and various internal functional areas.
• Formulate responses to client inquiries.
• Manage tasks and activities efficiently, taking responsibility for specific outcomes.
• Utilize analytical and project management methodologies and tools.
• Develop a strong understanding of EY's structure, business strategies, service lines, and policies.
• Build and maintain a network within RMS and across the firm.
• Plan and organize personal work, communicating status and activities to stakeholders.
• Apply judgment to initial consultations and reviews, rapidly understanding key requirements of firm and regulator's RMS rules and policies.
• Research issues and propose solutions for unique situations, referencing existing policies.
• Provide feedback for continuous process improvement.
• Uphold the highest standards of ethics, integrity, and values.

Qualifications:

• MBA from a reputed institute or a post-graduate degree.
• 8+ years of prior experience in quality, risk management, and compliance processes, with a strong understanding of data protection.
• Experience handling international customers or client interactions is preferred.
• Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills (verbal and written) in English.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Power BI.
• Proven team management experience, including resolving team issues and maintaining high morale.
• Good research skills and knowledge of relevant databases.
