Assistant Director - GDS Data Risk Management

In this role, you will be instrumental in driving the local implementation of cross-functional initiatives to mitigate data risks and operationalize data governance, aligning goals across GDS.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the cross-functional implementation of data and security program initiatives within GDS, leveraging expertise from Risk Management, GCO, InfoSec, CT/ET, Security, and Service Lines to effectively manage risks in areas such as Data Risk Management, AI and Innovations Risk, Retention & Disposition, and Technology & Information Security Risk Management.
- Develop and execute local strategies to identify and assess GDS-level data risks, evaluate control effectiveness, and operationalize data risk mitigation models within the First Line of Defense.
- Enable the safe and effective use of data in AI and technology innovations by coordinating agile risk assessments, thereby accelerating speed-to-market for internal adoption and client services.
- Coordinate responses to emerging AI-related risks and regulatory requirements.
- Facilitate the local adoption of tools and processes to enhance information and data governance throughout its lifecycle.
- Improve the prevention, detection, and response to data incidents, including Insider Threat events.
- Support GDS Records and Information Management initiatives to ensure retention and disposition compliance by coordinating controls across the data lifecycle.
- Support technology and information security initiatives to establish and enhance technical controls for protecting and governing EY Information.
- Champion training, awareness, and communication initiatives to foster a robust data risk culture within GDS.
- Serve as a key point of contact for data risk-related topics, engaging confidently with service lines on initiatives, trends, and requirements.
- Coordinate and shape local data risk appetite, strategy, prioritization, and delivery to ensure continuous improvement in data risk approaches.
- Evaluate and enhance data risk maturity levels, identifying resource needs, skill gaps, and development opportunities.
- Maintain strong collaborative relationships with allied functions, including GCO, Information Security, Technology, and Risk.
Skills and Attributes for Success
- 14+ years of professional experience in Data Risk Management.
- Proven experience in delivering risk and compliance solutions for Data Protection, Data Governance, or Information Security, with a keen interest in related and emerging risks.
- Understanding of local data-impacting regulatory frameworks and their implementation.
- Demonstrated track record of leading successful cross-functional and cross-border programs.
- Effective and engaging communication skills, with the ability to influence and inspire local leadership across business functions.
- Strong professional curiosity to explore complex and dynamic risk landscapes.
- Excellent organizational, prioritization, and agility skills for operational and project roles.
- Ability to learn and understand EY's global policies and familiarity with risk management initiatives beyond your immediate expertise.
- Good knowledge of project management tools and methodologies.
- Interest in collaborating with a culturally diverse, global team to design, develop, and deploy programs and share knowledge.

Qualifications
- University graduate/post-graduate with a strong academic background.
- Advanced MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience implementing a privacy program management platform.
- Exposure to client interaction is preferred.
- Possession of a recognized Data Risk Management/data privacy qualification (e.g., CIPM, CIPP/E, or equivalent) or a willingness to obtain one within the first six months is preferred.
