AS400 Developer at Cognizant in Chennai, India

Cognizant is seeking an AS400 Developer to join their team in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. This role involves a blend of pre-sales, product consulting, project management, design, implementation, testing, innovation, capability building, knowledge management, and people management responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Pre-sales:

• Engage in presales interactions, showcasing solutions to customers.
• Participate in solution response teams to assess technical feasibility.
• Provide support for case studies and solution creation.

Product Consulting:

• Analyze customer requirements and provide recommendations.
• Coordinate with onsite teams and clients for requirements gathering and functional clarifications.
• Identify value-adds to address recurring implementation issues.

Project Management:

• Create project planning estimates.
• Participate in deployment activities, reviewing deliverables and performing mock testing.
• Attend internal review meetings and prepare status reports.
• Conduct impact analysis for change requests and maintenance issues.
• Interface with quality reviewers and auditors.
• Submit requested artifacts and data.

Design and Implementation:

• Monitor design, development, and testing for alignment with requirements.
• Create high-level designs and guide product specialists in detailed design translation.
• Review designs for comprehensiveness and requirement coverage.
• Develop code for complex components.
• Review developer code based on requirements.
• Participate in peer design reviews.
• Lead design review meetings with customers.
• Conduct root cause analysis for defects and process issues.
• Identify and design reusable components and solution enablers.
• Create product-based Knowledge Transfer (KT) documents for customers.

Testing:

• Create and perform unit test cases, including for complex components.
• Review unit test cases created by other team members.
• Assist the testing team by reviewing test strategy documents.
• Provide User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and implementation support.
• Drive clarification and defect resolution for timely deployment.

Innovation:

• Contribute ideas for improvements based on project implementation and team feedback.
• Identify and document project/product best practices.

Capability Building:

• Prepare guidelines and checklists for the team.
• Create and deliver training on products/modules.
• Mentor the team technically and functionally.

Knowledge Management:

• Contribute to updating knowledge assets.
• Conduct knowledge transfer sessions for new team members.

People Management:

• Resolve conflicts within team members.
• Support team building activities.
• Provide administrative support.
• Contribute to goal setting and performance appraisals.
• Identify skill gaps and training needs.
• Provide input into learning and career plans.
• Mentor team members.
• Nominate team members for awards.
• Conduct academy training and induct new team members.
