About the Role
Join Valeo as an Artificial Intelligence Engineer in Chennai, India, and play a crucial role in developing cutting-edge algorithms for autonomous driving. You will engage in research, development, benchmarking, testing, and documentation of state-of-the-art AI solutions. This position offers the opportunity to explore new vision and sensor technologies, contribute to intellectual property development, and influence the design of next-generation algorithms. You will also collaborate across algorithm teams, consider future business opportunities, and work towards implementing algorithms on embedded platforms. Representing Valeo at industry working groups and conferences, and supporting internal training sessions, will be key responsibilities. Continuous improvement of competencies in automotive sensors, ADAS, and deep learning frameworks is essential, alongside identifying and implementing process improvements in algorithm development.
Key Responsibilities
- Research, develop, benchmark, test, and document advanced algorithms for autonomous driving systems.
- Investigate and propose novel vision and sensor technologies, ideas, and approaches.
- Support intellectual property activities, including generating Invention Disclosure Memos for patent applications.
- Participate in design reviews with various algorithm teams.
- Explore and contribute to the development of next-generation algorithms and new business opportunities.
- Develop algorithms with a focus on implementation for embedded platforms.
- Represent Valeo at industry working groups and conferences.
- Assist in the design and delivery of internal training sessions within your area of expertise.
- Enhance expertise in automotive sensors, ADAS, deep learning frameworks, and techniques.
- Identify process inefficiencies and propose/implement improvements in algorithm development workflows.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a closely related field.
- 2 to 5 years of relevant professional experience in AI/Deep Learning development.
- Solid understanding of deep learning concepts and computer vision principles.
- Hands-on experience with object detection models (e.g., YOLO) and semantic segmentation.
- Proficiency in Python programming and strong adherence to software engineering best practices.
- Familiarity with version control systems like Git, Bash scripting, and automation tools.
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills, employing a structured and documented approach.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Demonstrated confidence, collaboration, self-motivation, determination, and energy.
Highly Desirable Qualifications
- Specialization in one or more of the following areas: Transformers, Multi-task learning, Optimization, and Multi-modal models.
- Experience in designing complex systems comprising multiple algorithms or modules.
- Academic publications in prestigious conferences such as CVPR, NeurIPS, ICCV, and ECCV.
- Experience with commercially deploying algorithms in robotics, LIDAR, camera systems, or sensor fusion.
- Proven experience developing algorithms for autonomous and/or real-time systems.
- In-depth knowledge of camera systems.
- Prior experience in the automotive industry.
